Hi CG,

Can you tell me where your mother lived please as, if a baby came from Mexborough, Swinton etc, then the baby's burial details would be at Doncaster Crematorium, if she lived in Bolton-on-Dearne, Goldthorpe and Thurnscoe, the burial details will be at Rotherham Crematorium,if you give me more deatails I will have a look for you.

Hi Peter,
In the 1911 census it states my Grandmother had 6 children,5 living. So I asked Barnsley Register Office to do a search between 1905 when they married and 1911 when the census was taken. We still cannot find the missing child. My grandmother had twin boys born 1911 and died 1911 but both were alive on the census,so there is still another. My grandparents were James and Annie Elizabeth Smith and at that time would be living in the Thomas Street area of Barnsley near town centre.Have you any idea where I can find further information.
Thankyou Val

Hi, i am trying to find links or something to try and help me find out where all babies and infants were buried in penistone going back a long time? i live off the stottercliffe cemetery in penistone and have been told that there may be a number of unmarked graves of babies not baptised, as the land adjoining the house is in question. i am trying to find out if there are any indications as the council are trying to approve proposed planning, how do we know if there little ones are burried in this land?
Many many thanks for any help as i am unsure where to start.
kind regards
Mr Cable

Hi Andrew,

The main burial area for stillborn babies in Penistone Cemetery are Section Con 6 No 611 to 865 if you email me I will send you the Burial details.
There are no Burials recorded outside the stated Sections.

Hi Val,

I have checked all my records without success, it may be that the baby was buried in one of the Churchyards near the town centre, but some of them have been knocked down and I dont know wher the buried remains of the people were sent.
I will have another look and let you know.

Peter

Hi Andrew,

I have sent you an email as I got your returned message, I have contacted the Cemetery Supervisor to check the location of the Stillborn babies, if there are any babies there, I can assure you, they will not be disturbed, if you have any maps showing the area, send them to me and I will get things sorted.

Dont Worry

Peter

I was told some time ago that an aunt of mine (married surname Gregg) had a still born child at Hallamshire Nursing Home, Penistone in 1941. No one seems to know where this nursing home was or what happened to the child, a boy, who's chosen name everyone believes was to have been David. Could you help with any information or suggest how I might be able to find out more.

Graham

Hi Graham,

I have searched all my files, Sheffield Burial Index and I have looked on the Death Records for 1940-1941-1942 and there isn't a GREGG registered in Sheffield or Penistone.
I will ask one of my friends to have a look and I will get back to you.
