please, I have a birth that I cannot find in that time, info from 1911 census. Would the fathers name be indicated? It would have been Elias Bowmer.

I would just like to say a big thankyou to Peter, I recently found my sister who was stillborn in 1966, the only imformation my mum had was that she was in Barnsley cemetery. After contacting Peter he gave me the plot number and section she is in, we thought she was in a multiple grave with lots of other stillborns but this is not the case, we now plan to have a plaque made and put on her grave. My mum is over the moon. Once again THANKYOU!

Hi, i am trying to find links or something to try and help me find out where all babies and infants were buried in penistone going back a long time? i live off the stottercliffe cemetery in penistone and have been told that there may be a number of unmarked graves of babies not baptised, as the land adjoining the house is in question. i am trying to find out if there are any indications as the council are trying to approve proposed planning, how do we know if there little ones are burried in this land?
Many many thanks for any help as i am unsure where to start.

Hi Peter,
In the 1911 census it states my Grandmother had 6 children,5 living. So I asked Barnsley Register Office to do a search between 1905 when they married and 1911 when the census was taken. We still cannot find the missing child. My grandmother had twin boys born 1911 and died 1911 but both were alive on the census,so there is still another. My grandparents were James and Annie Elizabeth Smith and at that time would be living in the Thomas Street area of Barnsley near town centre.Have you any idea where I can find further information.

I was told some time ago that an aunt of mine (married surname Gregg) had a still born child at Hallamshire Nursing Home, Penistone in 1941. No one seems to know where this nursing home was or what happened to the child, a boy, who's chosen name everyone believes was to have been David. Could you help with any information or suggest how I might be able to find out more.

No Love, Cremations at Ardsley didn't start until 1962, You could check with the Registra's Office in Barnsley Town Hall, they should have a record of the baby's birth and death, one of these may give you some indication of what happened to the baby.

Please could you search for a still birth?
My grandmother always said that she was a twin but the other one died. I have looked everywhere else, and now am considering this option. Date would be 20th January 1900 at 62 Keir Street, Barnsley. Parents were John Thomas STEELE and Minnie Florence STEELE Nee Nunn. Thanks

Hi Peter,
Could you possibly see if there is a John Mallinson in your stillborn register from Q1 1860? I've found him in the civil registers (registered as Male Mallinson in the birth record, John Mallinson in the death records). Cannot find a burial record though.

Hi Peter, I'm trying to trace the burial of a stillborn girl born to Joseph and Mary Trundle (nee Wright) about 1946 in Barnsley. I don't know if she was actually given a name. Monk Bretton or Carlton cemeteries are a possibility.

Hi Valerie,
I have found the little girl in Monk Bretton Cemetery, I have emailed you the Cemetery Maps and Burial Details.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the info. I've been to Monk Bretton Cemetery today. Unfortunately there are no markers but I found approximately where she's buried. I presume there will be other babies in the same grave.
Keep up the good work as I know it's most appreciated.

Hi Peter
My parents John and Doreen Moore had a stillborn daughter at St Helens in Barnsley possibly 1964? Wonder if you can confirm this for me please?

Stillborn
My parents, Thomas and Evelina (Patty) Jeff had a still born daughter in the Nursing Home, I think on 18 February 1949 or 1950. I would love to pay my respects. Mum always thought the child was taken to Barnsley cemetery, but she was never really told what happened to her child. I had to be born in St Helen’s because of the risk, so I owe my life to this sister who never had a chance to live.
